• Neat Video 3.4 update

Additional GPU optimizations and support for new hosts: After Effects CC, Premiere CC, Nuke 7, Scratch 7 and more

Neat Video plug-ins have just been updated to version 3.4 with several performance and compatibility improvements:

• Plug-ins for After Effects: added support for After Effects CC (older versions of After Effects remain supported too)
  
  
• Plug-ins for Premiere: added support for Premiere CC (older versions of Premiere remain supported too)
  
  
• Plug-ins for OpenFX hosts: added support for Nuke 7, Scratch 7, DustBuster+ 5 (older versions of those hosts remain supported too)
  
  
  
• Performance optimizations for AMD/ATI GPUs
  speedups in filter modes with larger temporal radiuses:
  
  • in CPU+GPU mode: up to 25% (Windows), 15% (Linux) and 10% (Mac OSX)
  • in GPU-only mode: up to 65% (Windows), 45% (Linux) and 30% (Mac OSX)
    


• Performance optimizations for NVIDIA GPUs
  speedups in filter modes with larger temporal radiuses and higher bitdepths:
  
  • in CPU+GPU mode: up to 15%
  • in GPU-only mode: up to 20%
    
    
• Added support for new NVIDIA GPUs with CUDA Compute Capability 3.5 (such as GeForce GTX Titan and Tesla K20)
  All earlier supported NVIDIA GPUs remain supported as well.
  
  
• Mac versions: added support for AMD Radeon HD 7950 Mac
  The following AMD/ATI GPUs are now supported (OSX 10.7.4 or newer required):
  • ATI   Radeon HD 5770/5870;
  • AMD Radeon HD 6750M/6770M/6970M;
  • AMD Radeon HD 7950;
  • Some other models of AMD/ATI cards (please directly try the plug-in or contact support to verify)
    Note: Using the latest models of AMD GPUs is recommended for the best performance.
    
    
    
• New Navigator panel to quickly locate areas for profiling and preview using a thumbnail display

Note about FCP X and AMD Radeon HD 7950

While the support for AMD Radeon HD 7950 has been added to the Neat Video v3.4 plug-in for FCP and the plug-in itself works nicely in FCP X, 7 and 6, there is a known problem in FCP X itself, which may cause FCP X (including its latest version - 10.0.8) to produce visual artifacts (vertical lines) while running on that GPU if plug-ins of certain type (Neat Video is one of them) are used. The artifacts are produced by FCP X itself and Apple is currently busy trying to make FCP X work correctly with Radeon HD 7950 in such situations. As soon as the problem is resolved by Apple, we will update the list of known issues.

 

Upgrading from older versions (version 1 and 2)

The new major version 3 of Neat Video is a paid upgrade for buyers of the older versions 1 and 2.

• Neat Video adds support for Magix Video Pro X5

Neat Video 3.3 plug-in for VirtualDub is now also compatible with the new version of Magix Video Pro X5.

Traditionally, Neat Video plug-in for VirtualDub has been supporting VirtualDub and AviSynth. Since version 3.3, this plug-in is also compatible with Magix Video Pro X5.

If you use Magix Video Pro X5, you can find Neat Video plug-in supplied with Magix itself. Please use that plug-in to evaluate Neat Video and if you like the results please consider purchasing a license for the Home or Pro plug-in for VirtualDub to use it with Magix.
